The delicious milk from our local region forms the basis of the exceptional taste and high quality of Bergader’s special cheeses. As a Bavarian family company our focus is on regionality, fairness and sustainable management. And this starts with the milk:
- Which is why we source fresh milk exclusively from our 1,250 or so contract farmers from the region, with whom we have maintained close and collaborative relationships – often for generations.
- We pay fair prices for the milk to offer our farmers long-term prospects.
- Short transport routes of 20 km on average from the farms to our cheese dairy benefit the environment and ensure our milk is as fresh as possible.
- Bergader milk comes from dairy cows that enjoy exclusively European feed, with no genetic modification.
